This collection contains papers relating to Jessie Clifford Rehder's career as a writer and academic. The collection includes the manuscripts, drafts, and edits of Rehder's writings that varied in genre from poems to novels. In addition, the collection includes documents, correspondence, journals, and newspaper clippings of Rehder's time as a lecturer at UNC Chapel Hill.

This collection includes a variety of comic books published in the late 1980s and 1990s by publishers including DC Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Image Comics, Malibu Comics, Marvel Comics and Tekno Comics. The bulk of materials included in this collection were published during 1994-1997.

This collection represents the over twenty years of research that went into the creation of Mr. Hardee's privately published volume Three Southern Families - A History of Connecting Hardee, Jones, and Davis Families of Coastal North Carolina, published in 1994 by Southport Historical Society, Southport NC and printed by the Barefoot Publishing Company, Wilmington, NC.

Abstract Dr. Melton McLaurin is a professor emeritus at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He received a PhD in American history from the University of South Carolina in 1967, and taught in the UNCW history department from 1977 to 1995.
