Biographical Note
Dr. Megivern came to the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in August of 1974. His research concentration has centered on early Christian history, the New Testament, especially Gospel studies, and Christian ethics, especially capital punishment throughout history. Included in this collection are copies of articles and class discussions on comparative and non comparative religions and ideology from ancient to modern times and how nations and political parties have been affected. Dr. Megivern did extensive research on the death penalty resulting in the 1997 publication of The Death Penalty: an Historical & Theological Survey (Paulist Press, 1997). Dr. Megivern is at present Professor Emeritus of Philosophy and Religion at UNCW.
