Scope and Contents
This collection contains correspondence, ephemera, periodicals and advertisments, and genealogical documents for and related to the Lazenby family and Jones family. Material also included are two documents relating to the end of the Civil War and the Confederacy: an Oath of Loyalty to the Union and a President's Warrant of Pardon for Mary M. Jones.

Biographical Note
The Lazenby family have roots in North Carolina and Washington, D.C. Mary Elinor Lazenby was an author and wrote a three-part book on Quaker Herman Husband in the 1940s. The Lazenby family's ancestry can be traced back to approximately 420 to 600 A.D. Mary Elinor Lazenby outlines the family's history in Lazenby: Being Such Account as I have Been Able to Collect of the Families in the United States Bearing the Name.
