Scope and Contents This collection contains the galley, with artist's handwritten corrections for A Balkan Sketchbook by Claude Howell and fifteen (15) leaves (30 sketches) of the original sketches. The book was published as a first and only edition in December 1977. The edition was limited to 500 signed and numbered copies.

Ben Long Sketch

Scope and Contents This crayon sketch on paper [9"x 11 3/4"] is of three images of male heads: a profile and back side view of an adult and a profile of an adolescent. It is initialed by the artist; the date is on a corner which has been broken off and may be 1968 or 1969. The word "studies" has been penciled at the bottom of the paper.

Scope and Contents Consuelo "Connie" Berkman was an artist and photographer in Wilmington, North Carolina and the adopted daughter of well-known artist, Jack Berkman. The Consuelo Berkman Papers contain artwork, correspondence, personal journals, photographs, yearbooks, and other materials dating from 1968 to her death in 1996.
