This collection contains the galley, with artist's handwritten corrections for A Balkan Sketchbook by Claude Howell and fifteen (15) leaves (30 sketches) of the original sketches. The book was published as a first and only edition in December 1977. The edition was limited to 500 signed and numbered copies.
This collection contains 16 prints of hand drawn Christmas cards by Claude Howell from 1977 to 1994. Many are illustrations of downtown Wilmington, North Carolina, specifically of St. James Episcopal Church. Christian imagery is consistent throughout this collection of cards, including angels, baby Jesus, and the Three Wise Men, along with other biblical scenes. Some cards were drawn abroad and highlight the culture of the country Howell was visiting. All are pen and ink illustrations.

Hugh Zachery wrote and Claude Howell illustrated The Beachcomber's Handbook of Seafood Cookery in 1969. This collection contains the proof sheets and a photocopy of a corrected typescript of the book, neither of which is a final draft. An autographed copy of the final publication is available in Randall Library Special Collections. The sketches for the manuscript were retained by the author.
