Kidder Award and Certificate Of Membership

This collection contains an award certificate presented to Florence Hill Kidder (Mrs. George W. Kidder) of Wilmington, NC for her involvement in a North Carolina colonial exhibit during the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893 in Chicago, Illinois, as well as a certificate identifying her as one of the "Lady Managers" representing the State of North Carolina at the exposition.

Letters were sent to and from Edward Kidder, patriarch of the family and a local lumber merchant, his wife Ann, and their children, specfically Edward H. and Frederick. Laura Harriss Howell Music Collection

This collection contains the personal music library of Laura Harriss Howell and includes opera librettos, music books, and sheet music meant to be sung and played on piano, organ or guitar by musicians in the home. Published primarily in the first half of the nineteenth century but including some Confederate imprints, the music reflects the parlor music tastes of the period and contains popular part-singing classics of the day.
