Death notice in The Chronicle of Wilmington, N.C. for Captain John H.K. Burgwyn of the First Regiment U.S. Dragoons. Born on July 1, 1810, he was the son of George W.B. Burgwyn. Mortally wounded at the attack on Pueblo, in New Mexico, he died on February 7, 1847 and was eventually buried in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilmington, N.C.
