Bill Taylor Collection, Undated
This collection contains three photographs and one laminated photocopy of a newspaper clipping about William "Bill" Taylor, a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Air Corps and member of the Flying Tigers, who served in World War II. One of the photographs (which is duplicated in two sizes) features Taylor with his fellow flyers in front of the B-24 bomber named "Tough Titti." Photographs are undated but circa early 1940s.
Pelican Gallery student art, Undated
This collection contains artwork created by UNCW students from the former Pelican Gallery on the first floor of Randall Library at UNCW, now Randall Hall of the UNCW Library. On an ongoing basis, students were encouraged to draw their own pelicans, which were then posted on the wall of the gallery. Most drawings are in pencil. With the renovation of Randall Library into Randall Hall as part of the library expansion, the Pelican Gallery was closed.
St. John's Tavern Sunday "Pops" Concert Programs, 1947
This collection contains programs for the Sunday "Pops" Concert held at St. John's Tavern during 1947. Many programs contain hand-colored illustrations. The programs were intended as entertainment for military personnel visiting Wilmington.
List of enslaved individuals owned by G.F. and Mary V. Walker, 1889 May 8
This collection contains an original official document dated May 8, 1889 with the following statement: "A correct list of all the negro slaves owned by G.F. Walker and Mary V. Walker, his wife at the close of the war 1865 between the United States and the Confederate States." The document includes a list of the enslaved individuals with ages, birth years, and monetary valuations.
Also included are a photocopy of the original deed and a typed transcription.
