Contains material related to Williston High School, mostly newspaper clippings and programs from anniversary and reunion events, though there are a few contemporary items from Bertha's time at the school, from 1964-1968.

Contains newspaper clippings, correspondence, event materials, handbooks, and general Board of Education documents related to Hoggard High School and the county at large. Also includes a small scrapbook of newspaper clippings and other documents about the school riots after desegregation.

Contains a marked up copy of a presentation outline to the Rocky Mount City Council on the topic of "Improving Race Relations/Community Conversations." Also included are a booklet for a memorial at which Bertha spoke and a memory book for the 50th reunion of the 1968 graduating class of Williston High School.

Scope and Contents These thirteen folders contain material generally related to Bertha's many contributions to the local school system and county at large. They have been maintained in their original order and arrangement with which Bertha donated them, labeled "Thru the Years." She frequently spoke on panels, at events, and was a member of many committees, mostly connected to education, race relations, and volunteering. Contains newspaper clippings, print articles, and event material such as programs, pamphlets, and agendas. Most relate to events that Bertha attended and articles in which she was featured, mostly for honors and awards she received, as well as general articles about the racial history of Wilmington and education content she found important. Also included is a Star-News supplement of the 275th anniversary of Wilmington from 2014.

Bertha was given an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities by UNC Wilmington at Convocation in August 2000. Contains one VHS tape.
