Contains official correspondence, letters of congratulations, and Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation information related to the Nancy Susan Reynolds Award for Advocacy that Ritter won in 1986, the first year the awards were given out. The award recognizes those who have contributed in a substantial and meaningful way to the State of North Carolina. Ritter was given $25,000 and granted $20,000 of that to the North Carolina Coastal Federation.

Scope and Contents Contains legal documents, filings, and correspondence from Ritter's 1983 case against Onslow County regarding proposed development on Permuda Island, a barrier island located in Stump Sound between the coast and Topsail Island. Ritter, along with her husband Graham, William H. Rice, and Page Hansley sued Onslow County and its board of commissioners, as well as Marshall C. Thomas and Billie A. Thomas, developers who submitted the rezoning request to add condos and a marina to the island....
