Smith Reynolds Foundation information related to the Nancy Susan Reynolds Award for Advocacy that Ritter won in 1986, the first year the awards were given out. The award recognizes those who have contributed in a substantial and meaningful way to the State of North Carolina. Ritter was given $25,000 and granted $20,000 of that to the North Carolina Coastal Federation.
