Scope and Contents From the Collection: The collection highlights Dr. Edwin A. Alderman, who died while serving as the first President of the University of Virginia, 1904 - 1931. Dr. Alderman previously had served as President of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and President of Tulane University. This collection includes a book of photographs from the UVA book store, as well as a photograph of Charles D. McIver and a newspaper article announcing Alderman's death.
