Scope and Contents

This collection contains notes, photographs, and lists concerning the displacement of the Melster Family by the Nazis and the later repatriation of their property, as well as materials related to Jane Brister's return of two vases to Linderhoff Castle and an unrelated postcard addressed to Brister.

Biographical / Historical

She was born February 21, 1921, in Baltimore, MD. Jane was a graduate of Beaver College in Jenkintown, PA and numerous advanced military schools. She also graduated from the U S Army Language School, specializing in the Russian Language. Her most important assignment was at Camp King in Oberursel, Germany where she assisted in the debriefing of Soviet defectors. She served as the adjutant of the U S Army detachment at West Point, NY. She entered the service as a private and retired 22 years later as a Lt. Col.

She passed Febuary 11th, 2011 and was buried in Petersburg City, Virginia at the Blandford Cemetery.
