Scope and Contents

The majority of the collection is correspondence from the members of the Fourth of July Committee to organizations or people who they wanted to participate in the festival. In addition to correspondence from the members of the 4th of July Festival board, the collection has VHS tapes of parades and pageants held during the festival and also some unique artifacts like pewter medallions and a red, white, and blue telephone.

Historical Note

The North Carolina Fourth of July Festival is an annual event held in Southport, North Carolina. The festival was officially organized in 1972 to celebrate our nation's independence.
