Scope and Contents

Congressman Mike McIntyre served as the Representative for North Carolina's 7th Congressional district from 1997 to 2015. McIntyre's Congressional collection consists of papers and memorabilia accrued during his time in office. Materials in this collection cover a wide range of subject areas pertinent to North Carolina’s 7th district and McIntyre’s interactions as a Congressman including but not limited to agriculture, coastal issues, economic development, health care, military and veterans’ affairs, senior citizens affairs and U.S. Presidents. The papers are organized in 13 series and date from the 1970s to 2014, with the bulk of the material dating from 1996 to 2014. Material types include audio visual materials, campaign materials, correspondence, ephemera, invitations, memorabilia, newspaper articles and clippings, photographs, press releases, scrapbook pages, subject files and visitor logs. The collection also contains approximately 700 artifacts and ephemeral items cataloged separately.

Description

This series contains official statements released to media outlets including newspapers, television stations, and news websites regarding announcements, events, political stances and schedules. Also included are letters to the editor regarding editorials and opinion pieces as well as remarks for interviews. Appended to individual press releases are related documents such as email correspondence, copies of remarks made at events, and other relevant data. Materials in this series date from 1997 to 2009.
