This sub-sub-series contains correspondence and published material related to Reverend Mortimer Worth Glover (1896-1994), who was rector of St. James from 1936-1964, the longest service term of any rector. Material largely relates to his work with church and local service organizations.

Biographical Note

Reverend Mortimer Worth Glover was born in South Carolina in 1896. He graduated from the University of the South in 1916 and the Virginia Theological Seminary in 1920, being ordained a priest that same year. He married Gladys Eugenia Alexander in 1922 and had three children. He served in several churches around the south before becoming rector of St. James in 1936. He held the position for 28 years until he resigned in 1964, marking the longest term of service for a St. James rector. He was elected Rector Emeritus in 1964. Glover died in 1994 and was buried in Oakdale Cemetery.
