Biographical or Historical Information

The Cape Fear chapter of Phi Delta Kappa International was chartered in 1982 as a professional association for educators in the Lower Cape Fear regoin. Phi Delta Kappa International is one of the largest professional educators associations in the world. Members include teachers, principals, superintendents, higher education faculty and administrators, and others dedicated to improving education. Phi Delta Kappa chapters typically are associated with a local university, which in this case was UNC-Wilmington. The network of education professionals in the Cape Fear chapter followed Phi Delta Kappa International's mission of supporting education, specifically public education.
