Wilmington Presbyterian delegation telegrams, 1956 January-February
Scope and Contents
This collection contains a set of Western Union Telegrams from February 2, 1956 between the residents of Wilmington, North Carolina and the local Presbyterian delegation that was attending a meeting at White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. The meeting was held by the Presbyterian Synod of North Carolina to decide the location of their new college in Eastern North Carolina, with the members of the Wilmington delegation championing the city as the logical location for the school. Ultimately, Wilmington was not chosen. A January 27, 1956 telegram from the Executive Committee of the Consolidated Presbyterian College to Frederick Willets of the Wilmington delegation is also included.
