Scope and Contents

This collection contains the papers of Dorothy Dixon, a nurse at James Walker Memorial Hospital and professor of nursing at UNC Wilmington. The first folder contains correspondence, meeting minutes, agenda items, certificates, and related documents from Dixon's service on the Practical Nursing Advisory Committee for New Hanover County and its various iterations throughout the 1960s and 1970s. The second folder contains correspondence, guidelines, forms, lists of medical terms, and related documents for the student teaching program between the UNCW nursing program and New Hanover Memorial Hospital in the 1970s and early 1980s, as well as information on the nursing shortage at the hospital.
