Biographical Note

Reverend Richard Wallace Hogue was born in Alabama in 1876 and ordained there in 1899. He joined St. James as rector in 1902, after having first declined the position a year earlier, stating he was too young and inexperienced. He was actively involved with the Chapel of the Good Shepherd as part of his church work and also served as chaplain of the Wilmington Light Infantry. He married Elizabeth Coleman Young in 1900 and had two children. Hogue resigned as rector in 1908. He died in Virginia in 1956.
